Here’s a list of full pricing for the Lotus Emeya range in Australia:

  • Emeya – from AUD$189,990 plus on-road costs
  • Emeya S – from AUD$209,990 plus on-road costs
  • Emeya R – from AUD$259,990 plus on-road costs

Billed as an ‘Electric Hyper GT’, the Lotus Emeya enters a toughening market and positions itself against a crop of European electric vehicles struggling to move the sales pendulum.

The Audi e-Tron GT Quattro is the closest competitor to the Emeya and Emeya S and is priced at AUD$182,400 before on-road costs. It makes more power (630HP) and is marginally quicker in the 0-100 km/h sprint at 4.1 seconds but only has 448 km of range (WLTP) compared to the Emeya’s claimed 600 km using the smaller 20-inch wheels. There’s also the BMW i5 M60 sedan, priced at AUD$215,900 plus on-road costs, and the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53, priced at AUD$214,900 before on-road costs.

Compared to the top-of-the-range Emeya R, the equivalent dual-motor Porsche Taycan Turbo S produces more power (700kW), is quicker from 0-100 km/h (2.2 seconds), and goes further with considerably more range (630km of range). However, it also costs a lot more, starting from AUD$374,200 plus on-road costs compared to AUD$259,990 plus on-road costs for the Emeya R.

Similar to the Lotus Eletre SUV, the entry points to the range in the Emeya (from AUD$189,990 plus on-road costs) and Emeya S (from AUD$209,990 plus on-road costs) have the same powertrain. Both vehicles produce the same 405 kW (603 hp) of power and 710 Nm of torque and complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.15 seconds. The range for these models is up to 600 km, using 20-inch wheels, which come as standard on Emeya and are available as a no-cost option on Emeya S.

The more powerful Emeya R (from AUD$259,990 plus on-road costs) uses a dual-motor powertrain but produces more power—675 kW (905 hp) and 985 Nm of torque—and has a two-speed transmission on the rear axle. This is good for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.78 seconds, making it one of the quickest vehicles in Australia.

It’s expected for a vehicle at this price point. Still, the interior looks very nice, with a 12.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, KEF premium sound system, augmented-reality head-up display, and Nappa leather seats.

With production now underway in China, orders for the new Lotus Emeya are open—six months ahead of schedule, according to Lotus Cars Australia—and the first dealer demonstrators have arrived in showrooms.

Lotus Cars Australia is not operating the factory direct-to-consumer ‘agency’ sales model in Australia. To order your Emeya, build your car using the brand’s configurator online, pay your deposit, secure a build slot, and you’ll be contacted by your local Lotus retailer to complete your order and make a submission to the factory via Lotus Cars Australia. Of course, you can also walk into a showroom and configure and order your Emeya across the network of five Lotus Retailers in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
